THE SALT MARSH MUSEUM CELEBRATES 40 YEARS
Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 December
Since its inception in 1887, the "Museum of Ancient Costumes" became the "Salt Marsh Museum" and was established in 1984 in a renovated building. The opening of the site to the public was followed by an official inauguration in June 1985.
In 2024 and 2025, the Salt Marsh Museum, owned by CapAtlantique - La Baule-Guérande Agglo, will celebrate its 40th anniversary. On December 7 and 8, a festive and free weekend will begin this celebration open to the greatest number. After the launch, the festivities will take place throughout the first half of 2025.
> Saturday 7 December
• Between 10:30 and 12:00 and between 14:30 and 16:00: Creative workshop to celebrate Saint-Nicolas, for 5-11 years old (continuous, duration 15 min)
• 11.30 and 3 pm: focus visit «The legend of Saint-Nicolas» (duration 30 min)
• 4.30 pm: «The polar opera», told by «l'Atelier du livre qui rêve» (duration 50 min), for young public from 4 years on, reservation required. A musical and joyful story, like in the opera! This imaginary opera takes children into a strange world to meet the penguins at the South Pole.
> Sunday 8 December
• 11:00 a.m. Official launch of the museum’s 40th anniversary
• 3 pm - 5 pm: panettone sale, children’s workshops...
• 16h: Christmas tales by the company «La Lune Rousse» (duration 50 min), from 8 years old, on reservation. Christmas is not only under the trees, it can also be a story of palm trees, baobabs or beans: why not? Anne-Gaël takes you on a Christmas around the world with songs, stories and... a little bit of madness!
• 5 pm: Distribution of delicacies to children by the mule of Saint-Nicolas (partnership with P'tite ferme de Mélie).
