SHOW: "The last letter" by Vassili Grossman
Saturday, November 22 at 6:30 PM
Village Hall
The association Les Amis de la Gède invites you to a memorable evening; evening during which Philippe Bertrand will tackle a powerful and deeply moving text, which he has played very regularly for nearly two years and which he will continue to play in 2026 (Maison Max Ernst, Abbaye de Fontevraud...) : The Last Letter, key chapter of Vassili Grossman’s great Russian novel 'Life and Destiny', show created at the Comédie Nation, in April 2024.
The Last Letter, written by Vassili Grossman, takes us into the heart of the turmoil of the Second World War. In this brief, sober and powerful narrative, with a refined style, a mother addresses her son, on the other side of the front line, and writes down what she sees, hears and feels. Philippe Bertrand will perform during one single on stage, this letter full of life, with a topicality and an amazing modernity.
The performance will continue with an open and friendly exchange with the audience, which will clarify the context elements of the work and the life of Vassili Grossman, as well as address the stubbornly current questions that La Dernière Lettre continues to ask.
Free entry.
