In this lecture, Luc Camino, curator of the collection at the Senlis Museum of Art and Archaeology, invites you to explore one of the most fascinating uses of salt: its role in funerary practices, particularly in mummification.

Among salt’s many properties is its ability to preserve organic matter through a natural phenomenon called osmosis.

By drawing water out of tissues, it limits the growth of microorganisms and thus helps preserve them over the long term.
