Jazz and Heritage Festival

Saturday 29 June 2024

19:00 to 23:00

Saturday 29 June from 7pm to 11pm at the Chapelle du Mûirer

Come dance at the Chapelle du Mûrier!

For this 8th edition, Batz-sur-Mer invites you to celebrate summer and enjoy a musical journey in the sun, in the heart of the Chapelle du Mûrier. Jazz, arise, cross and mix many musical styles that is why this evening celebrates the musical mix of Creole and Brazilian music, where the accordion meets the double bass and the ukulele! Forro, kompa, biguine, this year we invite you to dance!

pm to 8:30 pm | THE FORROSCOPIC’S
With THE FORROSCOPIC’S we follow in the footsteps of the traditional forró. Typical music of the Northeast of Brazil and dance in pairs, popular, lascivious and warm, the Forró has become the expression of the saudade of the sertão, the rural exodus, the northern lifestyle, transmitting joy and emotion in all simplicity. The four artists come from Rennes to make you move on sunny sounds, moving away from the beaten track in the heart of a swinging, warm, sensitive and joyful universe. A concert both musical and dancing, where the musicians will be able to teach the audience the steps of some Brazilian dances! No need to know how to dance the forro to have a good evening!

21h30 to 22h30 | FANFARE MOLOKOYE
Molokoye returns to the tradition of Creole brass bands by paying tribute to the music that punctuate the streets of overseas since the 50s: biguine, mazurka, merengue and zouk Caribbean meet the Haitian kompa, cross the séga and the maloya of Reunion Island and Mauritius. A repertoire with tropical flavors that provokes an irresistible desire to dance! The group makes rediscover the sound of legendary artists who made vibrate many generations: La Perfecta, Les Vikings de la Guadeloupe, Alain Peters, Sam Castendet, Djet-X, Simon Jurad, Claudio Veeraragoo, La Selecta etc. Born in Nantes, the originality of this atypical band of 6 musicians lies in the use of singing, carried by Nicolas Chassay, singer-saxophonist at the origin of the project. From the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean, Molokoye makes bodies and minds escape during an atypical and timeless musical journey: hot!
