80th anniversary of the Liberation of the Poche de Saint-Nazaire

On May 11, 1945, three days after the armistice that ended the Second World War in Europe, the Saint-Nazaire pocket was finally liberated. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the 1945 Victory and the liberation of the Saint-Nazaire pocket. In addition to the official Victory commemoration ceremony on Thursday, May 8, and the joint program of events with the town of Le Croisic, Batz-sur-Mer will host a special convoy of vintage vehicles and extras on Saturday, May 10 at 12 noon in Place du Mûrier.

Saturday, May 10, 12 noon to 2.30pm, Place du Mûrier, Batz-sur-Mer

Orchestrated by the Association “Mémoire de la Libération, Poche de Saint-Nazaire”, a convoy of around 30 vehicles of all kinds, with almost 70 extras, will criss-cross the region, stopping off at Batz-sur-Mer on Saturday, May 10. The general public is invited to take part!

Would you like to take part in this commemoration? Tricolor pennants are available free of charge from the Tourist Office all morning on Saturday May 10: from 9am to 12:30pm.
ON THE PROGRAM:
- 9am to 12:30pm: distribution of tricolor flags - at the Tourist Office
- Around 12pm: vehicles will drive in convoy up rue Jean XXIII in the opposite direction, towards place du Garnal, then rue de la Plage in front of the Tourist Office, before returning to place du Mûrier to park.
- Between 12pm and 2pm: the public can admire the vintage vehicles and chat with their owners in the Place du Mûrier.
