The festival of the salt tradition

Presentation

The festival of the salt tradition: Nuits Salines represents three days of concerts, a gastronomic village and many activities.

A program of Breton and traditional music, dances, a friendly atmosphere make Nuits salines one of the great events of Batz-sur-Mer. During these three days, the only currency is salt. Exchange for a few moments your money for small bags of salt to restore you!

The organization of the festival also requires a lot of staff. Each year, nearly 200 volunteers ensure the smooth running of the event. Check out the full program on our agenda!

Saint-Guénolé is celebrated every year on the first Sunday of August. Religious feast mingled with tradition, Pardon Saint-Guénolé shows a traditional wedding in salt suits.
Departing from the Murier Chapel, the old statue of the Patron Saint is carried in procession through the streets of the city, while the population sings the "tad benniget" (blessed pork in Breton). Presented in the church, Saint-Guénolé is then offered salt, fruit of the work of the salt workers.
After the mass, place to the festivities: the procession is then done in honor of the "married of the day" in traditional costume, followed by a celebration in the park of Petit Bois.
